A childminder is somebody who looks after and provides a caring environment towards children in different environments like nurseries. The personal qualities required to become a registered childminder or nanny include having a love for children, being patient and having a caring nature towards them. If a childminder has a full time placement, the pay per hour ranges from £2 per hour for each individual child to £5 an hour, but the standard rate is around £2.25 an hour, which includes expenses. These figures are based on 50 weeks work a year, looking after two children. Therefore, this comes to a total of £7,000 a year for a new entrant who would typically go on to earning £10,750. The more previous experience you have of childminding services the more you are likely to earn. Top earners would be expected to earn £25,000 a year.
