I am writing to express my keen interest in your Civil Engineer position that I saw advertised yesterday on the Dayjob.com website. I have extensive experience of working across a range of commercial, industrial and residential development projects and feel I would make a perfect candidate for your opening.

Since July 2012 I have been employed by Central Builders as their chief Civil Engineer. I work within an established and experienced multidisciplinary design team supporting the delivery of a wide variety of projects. Together with Engineers from other disciplines I am responsible for determining a projects requirements based on the clients’ exact specifications.

The characteristics that separate me from everyone else include my ability to deliver real solutions and my knack of being able to successfully manage my time to meet project deadlines. I am an expert at condition assessment, design assurance, preparation of specifications, surveying, proposal writing and scheme costing. My key skills include, but are not limited to;

Checking drawings and calculations against technical safety requirements.
Applying advanced engineering techniques to construction problems.
Preparing basic engineering calculations following standard methods and principles.

On a personal level I am always well-presented and professional at all times, and have no problem developing good working relationship with clients and key stakeholders. In addition to this I am able to communicate in a fluent and positive manner with other team members and can produce reports that are written in clear English.

Right now I am keen to work for a company that currently have a number of large scale projects underway and which is looking to take on someone straight away.
