Dear Ms Graham,

I am writing in response to the advert you placed on Dayjob.com for an Office Assistant. My work experience to date has equipped me with a multitude of general administrative skills that make me an ideal candidate for your position.

My approach to work goes beyond just completing my routine duties, I am someone who actively looks for ways to reduce administrative inefficiency and cut costs. In addition to this and as a true professional, I am someone who is willing to come in an hour earlier or leave an hour later than my allocated shift, just to ensure that important work in completed on time.

At the moment I am employed in a similar role to the one you are seeking to fill. For the past two years I have been with the Northern Motor Company, where I am responsible for managing diaries, administering financial transactions, typing up correspondence, photocopying documents and organising departmental meetings. I am also in charge of managing the travel arrangements of senior managers, including their flights, accommodation and transport.

With the letter you will find an attached resume that will give you a more detailed description of my competencies. However, what it may not illustrate is my attention to detail, and my willingness to learn from my mistakes and the advice of others.

In addition to all of the above I am someone who always follows company office security and confidentiality procedures.

I am very keen to work for a company likes yours that values its employees and the work they do, and would greatly appreciate an opportunity to meet you in person so as to discuss my application further.
