Dear Ms Graham,

I have always wanted to be a Police Officer and was delighted when I saw from the advert on the Dayjob.com website that you are currently recruiting for more Officers to join your force. What pleased me even more was the fact that the openings are in my home town of Birmingham, a place I know very well.

As a strong believer in law and order, I feel I am not only mentally suited to the role, but also have the cool head and temperament needed to be able to deal with any stressful situation I come across during the course of my work.

For the last two years I have worked as a security guard, where I have gained experience and knowledge of all of the skills you need in a candidate. Here is a list of some of the duties I currently perform in my present role;

  • Providing a visible presence to deter crime.
  • Dealing effectively with highly emotional and tense situations.
  • Talking to people from all walks of life and building a rapport with them.

I am confident that I can pass any physical or mental recruitment tests and am eager to attend an interview with yourselves so that I can further convince you of my potential. With this letter I have attached my most up to date CV, and I would be very grateful if you took some time to review it.

For me it would be an honour to be a part of and contribute to your Force and I sincerely hope that you will invite me to an interview.

Yours sincerely,
