Dear Ms Graham,
After reading your job advert on the Dayjob.com website, I believe that you are looking for an outstanding Correctional Officer like me to join your winning team.
I have experience of providing for the custody, care and control of inmates in a wide range of penal and rehabilitative institutions. I can work unarmed amongst unrestricted offenders in highly-stress and hostile environments. I have the ability to monitor the conduct of inmates, according to established policies, regulations, and procedures with the aim of preventing escape or violence. I consider myself an expert at performing security checks of buildings and also of searching, examining, instructing and logging inmates.
Although the attached CV will give you a good idea of my technical competencies, what it will not show is my flexibility in carrying out my assigned responsibilities and my ability to accurately interpret rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
For the last three years I have been employed at the ……………………, where I am responsible for the surveillance, supervision, and control of inmates during exercise, recreation and visiting times. My other duties include keeping track of inmates through head counts, visitor logs and inmate-scheduled activities.
I am now looking to take on a role where the use of initiative and independent judgment is required.
If required I can provide you with excellent references from my current and previous employers. I hope that the information contained in this letter and the attached resume will assist my application and encourage you to invite me to an interview.
