Job Description

IT Engineer

I am looking to recruit several customer facing IT Engineers to provide 2nd/3rd line support and maintenance of IT systems [Servers, Laptops, Desktops, Firewalls, Monitors, Switches, Routers, iPads, Printers, etc.] to schools.

This is a challenging but hugely rewarding role. It is a heavily technical position, however, the role requires the building of very strong relationships with the customer and will thus suit someone that is not only passionate about IT, but has great communication skills, enjoys solving problems and has a real focus on customer service.

This role offers a unique chance to use and develop a broad range of technical support skills within a highly supportive environment, but with a good degree of responsibility. One of the fantastic benefits the company offers is that they pay for certification courses and they then reward their employee’s by increasing their salary with each certification gained [e.g. MCSE/CCNP etc.]

Key Responsibilities:
• Respond to, diagnose and resolve IT incidents in order to maintain/exceed SLA’s
• Regularly communicate with the users and wider Managed Service team to keep them updated and informed.
• Ensure spares are maintained to guarantee service availability.
• Assist in with implementing changes to the ICT provision in line with requests made by the customer through the Change Process.
• Understand the ICT solution delivered to the school and identify areas of improvement.
• Maintain accurate incident records.

Skills Required:
• Proven knowledge through acquired certifications by Microsoft or Cisco System [e.g. current CCNA/CCNP OR MCP, MCSE]
• Server and Network Storage Administration [Microsoft Server 2012]
• Microsoft Office 365 OR Google Apps
• Microsoft Exchange [2010/2013]
• Microsoft Office [2010/2013]
• Working Knowledge of ITIL Standards
• Hyper-V [2008/2012]
• CISCO products – Switches, Routers, WLAN and Firewalls
• VMWare ESX
• PC/hardware maintenance and repair skills [e.g. Server break-fix]
• Backup, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery
• IT Security [Antivirus, URL Filtering and Network Attacks]

The Ideal Candidate:
• Keen to learn and develop their skills
• Great work ethic
• Confident working on your own as well as contributing to the team
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills and passionate about delivering exceptional customer support
• Able to build exceptional customer relationships
• Sound planning, organisational and prioritising skills
• A logical approach to problem solving
• Previous support experience in a school environment would be useful but isn't essential
• This post is subject to an Enhanced DBS disclosure check through the Criminal Records Bureau.
• Must hold a full, clean UK Driving License
