Dear Ms Graham,

Your recent vacancy for a Police Officer position, which I saw advertised today on the Dayjob.com website, would suit someone like me with a wide range of skills, experiences and understanding of cultural issues.

To me your opening is an immensely rewarding role where I would be able to play a direct part in the lives of people I am there to protect and service. I am up to the task of working on the front-line providing reassurance, keeping people safe and supporting victims and witnesses.

On a personal level I always take a stand against crime and anti-social behaviour in my local community and am not afraid of confronting any injustices that I see. I am committed to acting ethically and with integrity in everything that I do.

I have thoroughly researched the role of a police office and right now have an extensive understating of key policing issues such as; traffic control, undertaking criminal investigations, public safety, uniform patrol and foot patrol. Aside from the above, I am a superb communicator who has no problem working and mixing with multicultural and ethnically diverse communities.

I must also mention that I come from an advanced academic background, having completed a degree in Community Relations at the University of North Manchester. Furthermore, if required I can provide you with excellent references from my current and previous employers.

I hope you will carefully consider my application and honour me with an interview. I can be reached on my mobile at ……………….., or by email at ……………….

Yours sincerely,
