Maxine has a hands-on approach to all aspects of running a busy café.   • Cashing up at the end of the day, and transferring money into the safe.
  • Keeping accurate records of the hour staff work and then furnishing the line manager with completed time sheets on a monthly basis for authorisation.
  • Ensuring that the coffee shop is sufficiently stocked to meet demand.
  • Giving advice to customers on issues such as food allergies and the nutritional content of what is on the menu.
  • Making sure the coffee machines are in good working order and maintained on a regular basis.
  • Arranging staff cover for employees who have rung in sick.
  • Taking corrective action to get rid of any hazards in the café.
  • Supervising deliveries by checking delivery notes and verifying delivered goods.
  • Ensuring health & safety and food safety standards are met by the cafe.
  • Driving continuous improvement in café performance to improve sales and service.
  • Training and managing a multicultural team.
  • Attending team, front of house and staff meetings as required.
  • Ordering food and the secure storage of food, beverages and cleaning products.
  • Liaising with kitchen coordinators and managers on any additional stock changes or requirements.
  • Performing other duties as instructed by the on-site management team and communicating with the head office senior management team as required.
  • Ensuring that all staff have full knowledge of the cafe menu.
