Responsible for producing comprehensive and accurate designs and surveys in accordance with set time and budgetary allocations.


  • Leading a small team of Ecologists to research and interpret data for conservation officers, engineers, rangers and administrative staff.
  • Writing up accurate and concise documents and reports.
  • Contributing ideas about changes to policy and legislation, based on ecological findings.
  • Producing designs that comply with all relevant health and safety legislation.
  • Determining risk for environmental, heritage and ecological features.
  • Undertaking environmental impact assessment.
  • Carrying out species and habitat surveys to current industry standards.
  • Assisting in preparing high-quality reports and advice to both internal and external clients.
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders including colleagues, clients and contractors.
  • Assisting in leading teams of field surveyors on-site and writing reports in-house.
  • Applying sampling strategies and employing a range of habitat survey techniques in given areas of field work.
  • Analysing and interpreting data, using specialist software programs.
  • Keeping up to date with new environmental policies and legislation.

  • Ability to liaise with a variety of public and private sector clients.
  • Excellent academic qualifications in ecology or biological sciences.
  • Experience working with statutory bodies and LPAs.
  • Excellent communication skills, including report writing.
  • Knowledge of the licensing process and mitigation implementation.
  • Excellent survey skills.
  • Specialism in botany and protected species.
  • Ability to mentor, develop and encourage more junior team members.
  • Preparing tenders in accordance with budgets and deadlines.
  • Adaptable and flexible approach to work to meet peaks in demands.
  • Have a proactive and careful approach to health and safety.
  • Possess first aid training certificate.
