Dear Ms Graham,
I would like to apply for your recent Editor opening which was advertised on the Dayjob.com website. As an experienced professional who has over five years of editorial experience at the highest levels, I believe I would make a perfect candidate for your position.
During my career I have worked for many leading publications. At the moment I am employed by Northern newspapers in a role that is very similar to the one you are recruiting for. With them I am primarily responsible for planning publications, reviewing editorial content and supporting editorial staff in all activities leading up to publication.
Throughout my working life I have always been self-motivated, organised and set myself strict achievable deadlines. I have good all round knowledge of summarising written material, reviewing the work of others and optimising content for social media campaigns.
On a personal level I am very good at professionally liaising with both internal and external colleagues. In addition to this my superb communication skills help me to network and develop industry contacts at formal meetings, events and conferences.
Right now I am looking for an excellent opportunity to join a successful and rapidly growing business like yours. I believe that my ability to set and enforcing publication standards will go a long way towards making me the best candidate for your position. For the same reason I hope that you will seriously consider my credentials.
I am keen to discuss my qualities in greater detail at interview, and eagerly look forward to hearing from you. Thank you for taking the time to review my application.
