Dear Ms Graham,
In response to your recent advert on the Dayjob.com website for a ……………, I would be grateful if you would consider my application in your search for a suitable candidate.
I come to you as a capable Archivist who is able to ensure that historically valuable documents and modern records are not only preserved but also organised to the highest professional standards.
I possess an in-depth knowledge of archival principles and practices and have a long record of organizing and classifying archival records to make them easy to find. You can rely on me to keep archive databases up to date, and make sure that all entries are accurately recorded. In addition to this I can be a ‘go to’ person for advise on issues such as future storage, access and the creative use of archives and collections.
In my current role I am an integral member of the Library and Archives team, who carries out my work correctly and efficiently whilst staying on top of other administrative duties such as liaising with other departments and reviewing associated documents. I must mention that I have been commended for safeguarding records by copying them onto film, videotape, disk and computer formats.
During my career I have gained experience of working in museums, government, colleges and universities, corporations, and other institutions that require experts to preserve important records.
Please feel free to review my attached resume which will give you a more detail view of my competencies and achievements. I thank you for your time and consideration, and look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience.
