Dear …………,

As an industry veteran who hopes to be in this industry for many years to come, I am presently looking for just the sort of Mechanical Engineer position that you are advertising on the Dayjob.com website.

I can design near perfect mechanical and electromechanical products and systems by thoroughly developing and testing all relevant specifications and methods.

After reading your job description I feel I would be a perfect match for your position because of my ability to design new or improved mechanical and engineering devices. You can rely on me to ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and operational standards and assist with technical reports, fault analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.

I also want to point out my track record of advanced fault finding, diagnosis and repair of fixed plant and processing machinery. This is no short measure due to my ability to work in close partnership with our customers to solve complex engineering challenges.

Recently I have been working for …………… where I am charged with repair assessment, component assembly, component modification as well as hydraulic and pneumatic testing. At work I maintain high standards of health & safety in own work and in the workshop area. As part of my duties, I am involved in designing, developing and inspecting machines and components used in various facilities. The secret to my success is my ability to produce detailed technical documents, specifications, and design plans. With over 5 years of experience behind me, I can work in noisy environments and carry out visits to plants, factories, workshops or building sites.

Aside from my above competencies, I am an organised individual who keeps an inventory and stock of all my tools, machines and fitting. Additionally, I am someone who can be relied upon to log all tools and equipment in and out of tool stores.

Right now, I would like to join a company where here will be opportunities for me to develop my skills and capability in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary engineering environment. My aim is to arrange an interview with where I can further highlight my credentials and suitability. I therefore invite you to review my attached CV which will show you that I am a capable and professional individual who is able to consistently perform to the highest standards.

How to write a Mechanical Engineer cover letter

Any cover letter you send in must explain who you are, mentions your strengths and state where you saw the vacancy. It has to be written in a structured format, with a concise introduction followed by a middle bit explaining who you are and finished off with a request for an invitation to an interview.

A Mechanical Engineer cover letter has to show recruiters that you can create solutions and solve problems to improve production and engineering processes. In it, demonstrate how you have resolved operational problems related to projects and minimized delays or unexpected cost increases.

Apart from mentioning your hard ‘technical skills’ employers also want to see examples of your soft skills. So, tell them about your experience of working with thermodynamics, mechanics, fluid dynamics, materials science, structural analysis, dynamics and electricity. But also mention that you are a team player who can work with other professionals, within and outside the engineering sector.
