A Nursing cover letter must show your ability to provide patient care, administer medication, take temperatures, give drugs, work with doctors, promote health and update medical records. It must portray you as someone who can not only take a patient’s vital signs, measurements and medical history, but also work with surgeons, physicians, specialists, assistants, technicians and other healthcare providers.
When writing your cover letter, aim to present yourself as a healthcare professional who can help and care for babies, children, adults and the elderly who are sick or injured. A Nursing cover letter must be more than a list of your past work duties, instead it has to show you can provide targeted care for individuals, families and communities to help them promote, maintain or recover optimal health and quality of life.
It also has to demonstrate your ability to take temperatures, blood pressures, pulse rates a well as performing wound care, catheterisation, and other essential nursing interventions.
Recruiters on the look out for new staff want to see you can lead by example by promoting a culture of kindness, professionalism, and accountability. It’s therefore vital that you show them your ability to tutoring student nurses and organise their workloads for maximum effect.

Clinical skills
