Nursing CV template

There are so many different nursing fields that you could write a CV for that it would be difficult to list them all here. However on this page we will give you useful CV tips on how to write in a professional nursing CV. You will also find links to well written medical CV templates that you can use to develop your own quality resume.

You should use a chronological CV format when writing out a nursing CV, and focus on those medical fields that you specialize in. List all of your career and academic achievements by date order, with the most recent being listed first.

Areas to focus on in a nursing CV
Concentrate on your area of speciality by giving examples of you providing basic practice nursing care and support to your patients. Your experience of working in hospital wards, hospices or care homes etc. Mention your ability to use specialist equipment or any community based nursing experience you may have.

If you are a member of any professional body i.e. if you are registered with the RCN or GMC, giving details of whether you are have full or limited registration. Also give details of any teaching experience that you have, whether you have been involved in any publications and audits.

In your nursing CV also mention your experience of:

  • Communicating with patients and doctors on sensitive issues.
  • Your administrative skills in keeping medical records up to date.
  • Experience of working with other healthcare professionals.
  • Assisting senior nurses to write up care plans for patients.
  • Being able to monitor a patients health and observe their condition.
  • Remaining calm & following procedures under stressful conditions.
  • Writing letters to a patients own local GP.
  • Advising on health prevention, long tern conditions and health promotion.

Margins can vary on the top and bottom if you like, but they should be no less than half an inch and no more than 1.25 inches. Focus on clarity by using a simple font such as Helvetica or Times New Roman throughout...
