Dear Ms Graham,
From reading your job advert on the Dayjob.com website, I believe your school is in need of a Caretaker.
I can be a visible and reassuring presence on the school premises, someone who can be trusted to quickly fix problems.
I have experience of delivering caretaking and facilities management services to both public and private sector bodies such as schools, universities and high-end apartment blocks. Your selection criteria stipulates that candidates must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. I can say with confidence that I possess all of these competencies and much more. With me you will get someone who has a track record of carrying out specialist building maintenance work to the standards of a professional craftsman.
With my current employer, I work as part of a team that includes Tenancy Officers, Caretakers and other colleagues who report directly to an Operational Manager. I carry out routine works such as ensuring that the roof is clear of leaves and debris, fixing broken radiators and moving furniture around. Through my career I have also supervised junior staff and am good at inspecting and recording the work of others.
On a personal level I have a practical approach to issues and am able to act on my own initiative, when dealing with any unexpected problems that arise.
Right now, I want to work for a company like yours that will offer me a decent salary which is based upon my experience and performance. In closing I want to mention that I have attached my CV with this letter and would be very grateful if you could review it and then come back to me if you feel I may be a suitable candidate.
