Responsible for providing a clean and safe environment for users of the school buildings and grounds.


  • Performing maintenance and light repairs where needed.
  • Operating the alarm systems and then responding to activations by carrying out site inspections of internal building after they’ve been set off.
  • Responding quickly to emergency situations in accordance with prescribed procedures and timescales.
  • Locking and unlocking the building at designated times as well as gates and bike sheds at scheduled times.
  • Assisting in the receipt, distribution, collection and dispatch of deliveries to the site.
  • Undertaking appropriate building repairs.
  • Carrying out basic tasks on a computers or hand-held devices.
  • Arranging chairs and tables for meetings and then clearing them away afterwards.
  • Daily and weekly checks of playground and external play equipment.
  • Clean internal and external windows when required.
  • Ensuring the building and grounds are secure when not in use.
  • Recording the dates of repairs and services carried out at the school.
  • Monitoring air conditioning and heating levels in a building.
  • Replacing a range of different types of lightbulbs in classrooms and hallways.
  • Clearing leaves and litter from all paths.
  • Working closely with subcontractors on a range of issues.
  • Keeping the building safe from theft and vandalism.

  • Have an extensive range of own tools.
  • Understanding technical information, building construction and design plans.
  • Willing to support events and activities at weekends when required.
  • Prepared to undergo enhanced DBS checks.
  • Ability to liaise with and assist external service providers and an ability to work in a team.
  • Experience with hardware tools and electrical equipment.
