Dear Ms Graham,
This letter is the official notice of my resignation from the position of (job title) with (company name).
I am returning to school in order to gain new qualifications, knowledge and skills to advance in my chosen profession.
I cannot study and work at the same time. Therefore, it would not be fair to you, as my employer, nor to my studies if I tried to do both as the same time. Because of this, I have no alternative but to leave my employment so that I can focus full time on my educational goal of earning a degree. However, I must say that I will be glad to be considered back for a job at your company once I complete my schooling.
The subject I am taking can be a stepping stone to many other professions and will prepare me well for a position in industry or public service.
As per my contract of employment, I must give you four weeks notice of my departure. This means that my last day of employment will be the 12th of August 2021.
My time at (company name) has had a significant impact on my personal and professional development. I will always cherish the professional relationships and personal friendships I have made over the years. I have always been impressed by your professionalism and ability to lead.
I would like to assure you that before I go, I will wrap up all of my outstanding duties and projects. Please also let me know if you need any assistance with the hiring and training up of my replacement.
Finally, I understand that the leaving process involves a considerable amount of paperwork to be filled out. To move things along quickly, can you please advise me on the first steps I need to take regarding this.
